Massage

For
thousands of years some form of massage or laying on of hands has been
used to heal and soothe the sick. Of all senses, touch is the first to
develop. As babies, it is primarily through our tactile experience that
we explore and make sense of the world, and the loving touch of our
parents is essential to our growth. As long as our need to be touched is
satisfied we grow healthily, but where it is inhibited our development may be
impaired

Today,
massage can provide us with a means to cope with domestic pressure, the relentless
stress of work or the effects of intense sports
activities. To
ensure that my massage treatment addresses your particular needs, I use
a wide range of techniques, either separately or in combination. These
are reflected below.
|
|
Remedial Massage
This
modality is a blend of approved massage techniques promoting efficiency in the muscular
system, which in turn enhances the functioning of the
entire person. |

Swedish
Massage
A soothing, full
body massage which reduces stress by relaxing the
nervous system and relieving the physical tension and pain
caused by stress. It
derives its name from Per Hendrik Ling from Sweden who developed this massage technique in the early 1880s. A
full body Swedish massage usually takes 1
1/2 hours. |
|
Sports Massage
A
thorough deep tissue massage with a focus on sports
injury prevention and treatment. This includes pre-
and post-event massage. Advice concerning stretching and
strengthening is offered. |

Trigger
Point Therapy
Myofascial Trigger Point
Therapy is a proven technique used for the relief of
soft-tissue pain and dysfunction. Trigger Points
represent small areas of tightness within muscles.
"Active" trigger points frequently refer pain, tingling
or numbness to other areas of the body, most of the time
to a predictable area. In this case the therapist works
on the trigger point rather than on the site of pain.

Pregnancy
Massage
This
form of massage offers
relief for the many common discomforts of pregnancy. The
specific technique provides consideration for the
physiological changes during pregnancy and can be
administered from the early to later stages of
pregnancy. This treatment requires a minimum 1 hour
duration. |

Indian Head Massage
A modern
adaptation of an ancient massage technique practised in
India for thousands of years. Indian head massage
involves working with a firm and gentle rhythm to help
relieve the built-up of tension - soothing and relieving
stress. Oil is not used. It can be done
fully clothed, seated in a chair and takes only 30
minutes. |
|
Ear
Candling
Ear candling will gently
massage your ear drums, will remove excessive ear wax
and may also relieve pressure after flying, deep sea diving
or wherever an imbalance of pressure has occurred. Ear candling may also be beneficial for
relief of symptoms of sinus problems, earache, glue
ears, swimmers' ear, some chronic headaches and ringing or
irritation in the ear. It is a pleasant and relaxing
experience even for children. Approx 30 minutes
duration. |

Aromatherapy
Essential oils are used during your Remedial,
Swedish or Sports massage session unless
contraindicated. They are individually chosen for
each treatment, bringing about a curative and
restorative effect to the mental, emotional and physical
aspects of your being. |
